Resumen

Durante un largo período, la enseñanza de la pronunciación del inglés como lengua extranjera ha estado marginalizada de la agenda de la lingüística aplicada. No obstante, impulsada por los avances de la globalización y los recursos tecnológicos, la pronunciación ha adquirido un lugar relevante en la enseñanza de lenguas extranjeras, constituyéndose en uno de los ejes centrales de la comunicación por habla. Para garantizar una comunicación efectiva, la instrucción de la pronunciación en L2 se ha convertido en un requisito indispensable en la interacción verbal. El propósito del presente trabajo es verificar el grado en el que el habla en inglés, producida por hablantes argentinos, afecta la percepción de la comprensibilidad de oyentes brasileños. Asimismo, se busca determinar en qué medida ciertos aspectos lingüísticos, tales como la pronunciación, la gramática, el vocabulario y la competencia discursiva, se relacionan con el constructo de comprensibilidad. Los resultados mostraron diferencias significativas entre las producciones de los hablantes. Se observaron, además, correlaciones directas entre la comprensibilidad y la pronunciación para cada uno de los hablantes. Finalmente, se discuten algunas implicancias pedagógicas y se brindan nuevas líneas de investigación en el área.
